You know you’ve reached peak if you’ve played a rabbit in your life. But in all seriousness I’m actually very excited for Watership Down, and John is playing one of the most developed characters in the book (It’s hard to develop when literally everyone is supposed to be an archetype).
I want a tooth rotting happy end for reylo so that I can use it for emotional fuel to my flame for years to come.
John Boyega to star in Watership Down adaptation this December
He will voice a rabbit named Bigwig and joins the likes of James McAvoy, Daniel Kaluuya, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Chan, Olivia Colman, Rosamund Pike, Peter Capaldi, Taron Egerton, Mackenzie Crook, Jason Watkins, Henry Goodman, Gemma Arterton, Rory Kinnear, and many more.
Watership Down will be shown on BBC One as two special feature length episodes this Christmas and internationally on Netflix. It was also reported that Sam Smith will record a new original song called “Fire on Fire” that will be used as the theme for the mini-series.
Set in the idyllic rural landscape of southern England, this tale of adventure, courage and survival follows a band of rabbits on their flight from the intrusion of man and the certain destruction of their home. Led by a stout-hearted pair of brothers, they journey forth from their native Sandleford Warren through the harrowing trials posed by predators and adversaries, towards a promised land and a more perfect society.
